Anti-wrinkle Injections and Dermal Fillers Practical Training

Updated: Oct 18, 2021

Anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers both act in much the same way – adding volume to various areas or features of the face to provide more of a youthful finish. This volume is achieved through injections, which are considered in the industry as non-invasive procedures which can be used in conjunction with other treatments.

For patients, the concept of anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers is one which they turn to when their face is starting to become impacted by the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines which serums simply won’t fix. One of the common misconceptions about anti-wrinkle injections, in particular, is that it fixes wrinkles – of course, for those of us who have been in the industry for any length of time, we know that it doesn’t. What it does do is freeze the facial muscles to keep them from contracting and deepening lines and wrinkles further – in essence, providing more of a preventative treatment than a restorative one.

Meanwhile, dermal fillers are designed to add that volume we mentioned before. Made up of a hyaluronic acid filler, the needle is positioned in the dermis under the skin, injecting the substance in strategic locations which plump the skin back up and literally erase the wrinkles and fine lines.

Is this permanent? Of course not, with most clients coming back every year for a repeat procedure.

Why is it important to take part in practical training as part of your Aesthetic Practitioner course?

The fact is that as an Aesthetic Practitioner, it is your job to not only inject the filler and perform the anti-wrinkle injection treatment but also to identify the areas which will be most impacted by such procedures. The role of an Aesthetic Practitioner begins long before the treatment itself, with the initial consultation where the client will outline their issues and their end goal. From there, it is up to you to ascertain and determine which procedures will work best, which substances and fillers to use and to what quantities, and which areas and features of the face will be defined best by treatment.

Once both you and the client are satisfied with the agreed procedures and how they will be laid out, the rest of your practical training will kick in.
